Francis Magalona will be awarded with a Presidential Medal of Merit by the Malacañang Palace because of his dedication in promoting a way of patriotism into his music. It was announced last March 8, 2009 by Cecile Guidote-Alvarez the executive director of National Commission for Culture and the Arts with the directives of President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo.
